New Apple Photos app - location of photos on disk

We can barely call it new, but in a way it is, at least newer than the dreaded iPhoto (that I'm pretty sure will slowly die), Apple's Photos app is definitely one application worth having a look if you are using one of Apple's computers (like I do). I actually stopped working iPhoto and went over to Google's Picasa, but since Photos is around, I learned to like it; so far no real complaints. However, you might be the kind of guy who doesn't just like to see those images inside the app, but time to time you may want to just be sure you have it somewhere on the disk, and be able to manipulate it, copying or whatnot. Well, I have good news to you: those images you imported into the Photos app can be retrieved on the disk, and here is their location (of course, replace your_username with yours):

The best webhosting service ever, I mean, really!

Well, I'm kinda taking business away from myself, but not really. I do provide hosting services, but to be honest, for now, on a very small scale; business hasn't picked up the pace I would like it to, although, to be very honest, I haven't had much time making it work for me (too busy with daytime job, and other stuff in life, let me not go into that...). Either way, obviously, until my time comes, I also need a reliable webhosting service, and mine, the best of the best, with amazing, no bullsh*t support, a small but extremely professional business (I like "small but great" businesses, did I tell you that already?) that is called... wait for it (rolling drums)...

One of my simplest answers is performing best on StackOverflow.com, would you believe it? It's a simple question: How do I center Glyphicons horizontally using Twitter Bootstrap? Here is my answer to it:

MAC US Wi-Fi card doesn't support channel 12

At one stage in my home network admin guru self exploration ride, I wanted to use channel 12 on my router, as somewhere I read it's best to use a channel that isn't overcrowded (since then I learned it isn't all that simple as just picking a channel that no other router around me uses, but a little more than that like overlapping wifi channels, and ways to avoid them [recommended read!]). So I set my router to channel 12 and was happy to acknowledge my (temporary) success.

WordPress: disable password reset

So you would like to take full control of your WordPress blog's / website's user management, and thus want to disable the password reset function (maybe you only want to allow specific users to access it), and thought it's just one simple function in your functions.php file, and that's it?

Well, it turns out it's a little more than that, otherwise you'll miss the important bits and pieces, and will end up keeping a backdoor open.

So let me share with you the full code that is needed to ensure password reset is disabled completely in your WordPress blog or website:

I had to answer and interesting question on StackOverflow (SO): Can can you limit (well, first of all calculate, of course) the number of lines in a textarea?

No sound in Chrome for YouTube video

The other day I experienced an odd issue: there was no sound coming out of Google Chrome when I was trying to play a YouTube video.

I found this Google Support Forum thread about it; it may help you if you encounter a similar situation:

7vége az ég alatt 4. - 7vegeazegalatt.com 2014 ready!

I just finished the now very (extremely, even) minimalist "release" of 7vegeazegalatt.com, the website I created for the festival we're having every year at summer, organised by my bro's and myself; don't forget to check out the Archives for earlier versions of this yearly changing website. ;) http://www.7vegeazegalatt.com

SOLVED! iOS 7 (iPhone 4S) Reminders only syncing when editing

This time I have something for you that would be more practical in your everyday life, provided you have an iPhone of course. You may have experienced this too, but I realized that if I applied changes to my Reminder entries on my iMac (has to be OS X 10.7.2 or later), it only got synced on my iPhone 4S with iOS 7 once I started editing one of the entries there. What happened in this case was that my current editing got ignored, and the changes I applied on my iMac took over. This was very annoying and I have looked everywhere on the net but found no real solution.

One day I just tried something, and it appears it did the trick:

Calculating colour contrast from hex colour code (php, javascript)

This time I have a nice little snippet to offer you: there is an easy way of calculating contrast from hex colour codes. I needed this on one of my web apps where I wanted to display the background of certain buttons in one colour and wanted the app to automatically calculate if I should set black or white as foreground colour for the button so it's easy to read.

New, temporary design for webeno - webdesign, webhosting

I decided to apply a little facelift to my blog as the previous one looked really outdated. I will move this blog (sooner or later) into a different domain, but until then, I just wanted it to look a little nicer (to my view at least). I may still change my mind, so come back later for more... ;)

What do VocalEyes, Yii, and StackOverflow have in common?

Well, me! :) Right now I spend most of my free time trying to help out an amazing team at VocalEyes, a community voting online app, working with Yii, the framework this one is built with, and the rest of the remaining little time I have in a day I am doing my best to answer questions on StackOverflow (link to my profile), a well known "question and answer site for professional and enthusiast programmers". So what else could I write about...?

Add a copyright notice to text copied on your website or blog

Here's a quite smart trick for today: Add a Copyright Notice to Copied Text.

What it does is that when someone copies text from your blog or website, this script ensures that once the text is pasted, it adds the URL of your post (on a blog) or page (on a website for example) and a copyright notice to the end of the pasted text. How awesome is that, right? :)

Transferwise pay button

I created a new button on this blog for donations. Scroll all the way to the bottom, you will find it in the right hand side pane: find the Donate button on this blog. If you're already there, why not click it and send me something, of course, if you like the information you're getting here. ;)

Get rid if annoying captcha!

If you followed this blog for a long time, you might have seen my post about introducing reCAPTCHA (Added reCAPTCHA to webeno contact forms). Let me tell you something: you don't need any sort of captcha trick at all in order to prevent SPAM! And believe me when I tell you this as I have this new way setup and working perfectly, and have received 0 automated SPAM through my forms since its introduction!

Here is what I did:
