How to find your facebook id or facebook admin id (aka fb:admin)

Actually I realised that there is quite a lot of false or misleading information around this subject. Finding out one's facebook id or facebook admin id (aka fb:admins) apparently creates a lot of confusion as facebook itself does not provide a comprehensive help page with this subject. What would you need it for, you may ask. Well, some facebook social plugins, like the facebook "Like" button for example, need it in order to work properly.

So here it is, select one of these 2 easy ways to get it:

A little help with Internet Explorer Compatibility Mode

We all know that Internet Explorer 7 and 8 don't always play very well with all websites, so Microsoft has introduced Compatibility Mode for Internet Explorer. While building a new website just now, I stumbled upon a very good article about what Internet Explorer Compatibility Mode is all about. The article titled Understanding Compatibility Modes in Internet Explorer 8 explains it very well. I used the meta tag with "IE=edge" that asks the browser to "Always use the latest standards rendering mode". You might also want to refer back to one of my old posts to find out how to cheat Internet Explorer to do different stuff than other browsers: Internet Explorer CSS "cheats".

iCloud Photo Stream To Folder (skip iPhoto)

I'll be honest with you: since I have my iMac, I tried hard but just could not get used to how iPhoto arranges photos (using events instead of folders). Thus I started using Picasa for Mac that I was really pleased with. However, the only way I can import photos in Picasa is to plug in my iPhone.

To make use of iCloud's Photo Stream feature where photos taken on your iPhone get uploaded to iCloud automatically over the air and so can be displayed immediately on your Mac or PC, without the need to wire connect your iPhone to it, I was looking for a way to either find the Photo Stream folder location on the iMac, or for Picasa to connect with iCloud directly. Well, as it came out, the combination of the two can be made possible with Automator!

Facebook Cover Photo Dimensions

Ok, so here I am again, after most of my holidays and travels completed, a post that I wanted to add some time back already but wasn't sure how to word it. Finally I came up with a very simple way of saying this.

I have looked around on the net but mostly the explanation of how facebook cover photos are sized was not very easy to understand. So finally I simply took a screen shot of mine removed the inside and here you go, the plane image you'll see attached here below.

Combine multiple images into 1 PDF with Mac

Kinda random title, right? But hell, I needed it and I received no questions from you, so why not share this amazing way of merging images into one PDF. On the HP help page there is a thread called Scanning multiple pages into 1 PDF with Snow Leopard & HP C3180. If you scroll down a bit to the entry added by Blue_Melnick on 08-31-2009 07:47 PM you will see how easy it is. It actually made me want to use Automator more :)

Google +1 (plus one) button added to webeno - webdesign, webhosting

It's been some time that I wanted to add the Google +1 option to my posts, but my initial tests failed when trying to use Google's 'Add +1 to your pages' page. I just made another try after finding article Add Google +1 (Plus One) Button To Blogger Posts. I just had to tweak it a little bit in order to fit my blog's design - see the result below and click if you liked this post ;).

Added reCAPTCHA to webeno contact forms

EDITED: Through a recent discovery, I realized that I don't need reCAPTCHA anymore, in fact, it's very far from being effective in preventing SPAM. You'll find more info about that in my recent post: Get rid if annoying captcha!

I have been receiving SPAM emails recently from my contact forms, so I decided to add reCAPTCHA to them (note that reCAPTCHA has been acquired by Google). reCAPTCHA is a little tool that will require users to type in 2 words they can see on an image. This is to prevent machines to fill out the form and so stop SPAM.

Need to reload websites regularly using an O2 Wireless Box?

I struggled for some time now since I had my O2 Wireless Box IV as almost anytime I wanted to open a website, it did not want to load at all unless I reloaded it immediately. I looked up the internet for solutions, so changed my IP to fixed, changed my DNS settings and all, nothing helped. One thing I was sure about was that it seemed to be an issue with DNS.

Website rebuilt by webeno - teklalight.com

Another refurbishment process ended some time back, I just really didn't have much time to post, so putting it up now. My good photographer friend asked me to rebuild her website a while ago (I wrote about this here in details when this happened in my post called Another website you'll see my link on). It now got a new name and of course an absolutely new design: teklalight.com. You may also check it out under the MadeByMe page of this blog.
